Coneross Park

Closed — Closed for the season. Typically operates May 1 through September 30. Reservations available through Recreation.gov.

Special Weather Statement issued March 23 at 2:44AM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC

2:44 AM — 10:00 PM

Dry brush and leaf litter have become very dry in recent days due to breezy conditions and low relative humidity. These conditions are forecast again today. Relative humidity will fall below 30 percent for much of the afternoon and evening hours, and wind gusts may reach 25 to 30 mph at times. Given the dry vegetation, outdoor fires will be able to spread quickly once started, increasing the danger of wildfires. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.

About

Coneross Park Campground sits on 136 acres of mixed hardwoods and pines along Lake Hartwell, a man-made reservoir on the Savannah, Tugaloo, and Seneca Rivers that straddles the Georgia-South Carolina border. Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this moderately sloping, heavily wooded campground offers 106 public campsites, with 94 sites featuring full water and electric hookups and 12 primitive sites with impact pads only. The facility is well-equipped with four comfort stations with hot showers, two dump stations, and associated paved roads throughout. Lake Hartwell's 962 miles of shoreline provide exceptional opportunities for fishing, with anglers targeting largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish, striped bass, and hybrid bass. The campground features a boat ramp and courtesy dock for easy lake access, making it popular with boaters, water skiers, and paddlers. Two designated swim beaches and four playgrounds make this a family-friendly destination. The surrounding hardwood and pine forest provides ample shade throughout the camping area. The campground is located a short drive from Clemson, South Carolina, and Clemson University, offering convenient access to grocery stores, restaurants, and additional tourism opportunities. Gates open at 7 a.m. and lock at 10 p.m. daily. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited, and campers are limited to 14 consecutive nights within any 30-day period.
