About
Elrod Ferry Recreation Area is a 39-acre day-use facility operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Hartwell Lake in Hart County, Georgia. Situated on a gently sloping point overlooking the lake near Hartwell Dam, it provides excellent access to the 56,000-acre reservoir that straddles the Georgia-South Carolina border. The facility offers three designated swimming beaches, 37 picnic sites, and two picnic shelters equipped with water and electric service that can be reserved. Additional amenities include two comfort stations, two playgrounds, a volleyball court, and a boat ramp with courtesy dock for lake access. This is strictly a day-use area. Overnight camping is not permitted at Elrod Ferry. Campers seeking overnight accommodations should consider one of the eight Corps-operated campgrounds around Hartwell Lake.
