About
Springfield Campground is one of Hartwell Lake's most popular camping destinations, situated on 60 acres of primarily Virginia pine and mixed hardwoods along the South Carolina shoreline. Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the campground provides 79 public campsites, with 75 offering lakefront views. All sites include water and electric hookups. The facility features six comfort stations including four with hot showers, a dump station for RVs, a boat ramp with courtesy dock, three playgrounds, and a designated swim beach. Fishing is excellent with largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish, striped bass and hybrid bass available. The lake is popular for boating, water skiing, and swimming. The campground enforces a gate system that opens at 7 a.m. and locks at 10 p.m. daily. Located near Anderson and a short drive from Clemson University, campers have convenient access to restaurants, grocery stores, and gas stations. The campground prohibits alcoholic beverages, off-road vehicles including golf carts, and limits stays to 14 days within a 30-day period. Reservations are managed through Recreation.gov.
