Colonel Robins Group Area is a secluded group camping destination located within the Headquarters Tract of Withlacoochee State Forest, approximately 6 miles from Brooksville in Hernando County, Florida. This peaceful retreat is designed exclusively for group tent and hammock camping, accommodating parties ranging from 9 to 35 people. The campground features hammock stands for four hammocks, making it particularly popular with youth groups and outdoor organizations. Facilities include restrooms, picnic tables with lantern hangers, a large fire ring with cooking grate, and drinking water. A campground host is on-site. The surrounding forest offers many miles of trails for hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding, with seasonal hunting available in most of the forest and fishing opportunities in nearby lakes and waterways. No alcohol consumption or possession is permitted at this facility. Pets are allowed. There are no hookups available as this is a primitive group camping area. Reservations are required and can be made up to 11 months in advance through Florida State Forests.
