About

Schoolcraft State Park Group Campground is located in a secluded area of Minnesota's North Woods along the Mississippi River, approximately 15 miles west of Grand Rapids. Named after explorer Henry Schoolcraft, this small 225-acre park offers a quiet retreat from busy campgrounds. The group camping area can accommodate up to 50 people and provides a rustic camping experience without electric hookups. The park features virgin pine forest with interpretive trails, including white pines more than 300 years old. Visitors enjoy hiking, fishing the Mississippi River, and canoeing in the gentle waters. The campground is rustic with vault toilets and water access. The park's location on the Great River Road Scenic Byway makes it a convenient base for exploring nearby attractions. Schoolcraft State Park offers a true north woods experience for groups seeking solitude and natural beauty. The campground operates seasonally from mid-May through early September, providing summer camping opportunities along one of America's great rivers.
