About

South Cumberland State Park Campground is anchored by Foster Falls Campground, the only drive-up camping facility within this sprawling park system that spans multiple counties in Tennessee. Located at the Fiery Gizzard South Trailhead, the campground provides 25 primitive sites suitable for tents and small trailers up to 25 feet. Each site features a stone fire pit, though amenities are basic with no tables or hookups at individual sites. The campground operates year-round and serves as an ideal base camp for hikers tackling the spectacular Fiery Gizzard Trail, one of Tennessee's most renowned hiking routes known for its beauty and geological diversity. The park also offers backcountry camping at four additional primitive campgrounds accessible only by hiking, making it popular with backpackers seeking multi-day wilderness experiences. Foster Falls Campground's proximity to stunning waterfalls, dramatic overlooks, and miles of trails through gorges and forests makes it a destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Reservations are managed through the Tennessee State Parks system.
