Foster Falls Campground is the primary drive-up camping area at South Cumberland State Park, located on Tennessee's Cumberland Plateau near Monteagle. The campground offers 26 rustic sites suitable for tents and small trailers, with a maximum occupancy of six per site. Each site features a fire ring and picnic table. The campground has heated showers and restroom facilities but no water or electric hookups at individual sites. The park encompasses over 30,000 acres and includes more than 90 miles of trails, making it one of the largest state parks in Tennessee. Highlights include the iconic Foster Falls waterfall, Fiery Gizzard Trail, and rock climbing areas at Foster Falls and Denny Cove. For backpackers, the park also offers approximately 90 backcountry campsites spread across areas like Small Wilds, Grundy Forest, and Little Cove campgrounds. Reservations are required and can be made up to one year in advance through the Tennessee State Parks reservation system. Check-in is at 2:00 PM and check-out at 10:00 AM. A two-night minimum stay is typically required. Only certified heat-treated firewood is permitted, and gas generators are prohibited.

Directions

From I-24, take exit 134 toward Monteagle. Head south on US-41 for approximately 8 miles. The park entrance and Foster Falls area will be on the right.
