About

Located within the historic Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park in northwest Georgia, this group campground serves organized non-profit youth groups for educational overnight stays focused on battlefield history. This is not a public campground; recreational-only camping is not permitted, and unauthorized reservations may be canceled. The campground features nine flat, tree-sheltered tent sites in a hardwood deciduous forest setting. Each site includes a fire ring with grill, picnic table, and lantern pole. Potable water spigots are available at sites 1, 3, and 4, while vault toilets are centrally located between sites 3 and 4. An amphitheater is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center is approximately 1.5 miles by vehicle or 0.45 miles on foot, offering museum exhibits on the Battle of Chickamauga. Groups can request ranger-led tours and activities, and scouts can earn badges by completing designated hike routes along the park's 50 miles of trails.

Directions

From Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center, turn right (south) onto Lafayette Road. Travel 1.5 miles and turn right onto Dyer Road at Brotherton Cabin. At the first stop sign, turn right onto Glenn-Kelly Road. Travel 0.5 miles, passing a triangular intersection on your left. Turn left at the next roadway, South Post. Enter through the gate, closing it behind you. The camping loop will be on your right with numbered site markers.
