About

Harrison Bay State Park sits on approximately 40 miles of Chickamauga Lake shoreline in Hamilton County, just north of Chattanooga. Originally developed as a TVA recreation area in the 1930s, it became Tennessee's first state park in 1937. The campground is well-suited for both tent campers and RVers, with 128 RV sites equipped with water and electric hookups and 27 primitive tent-only sites spread across four distinct camping loops. Each camping area has its own bathhouse with hot showers, and a centralized dump station serves RV campers. A limited number of sites can accommodate large RVs up to 65 feet. The campground also offers Wi-Fi (intended for light use), a camp store with essentials during peak season, a playground, and fire rings. Pets are welcome when kept on a leash. Beyond camping, Harrison Bay provides excellent fishing and boating access, with a full-service marina and multiple boat ramps. The Bear Trace at Harrison Bay championship golf course is on-site, along with picnic pavilions and swimming facilities. The park's proximity to Chattanooga makes it a convenient base for exploring the region.
