About
Clear Lake Campground occupies a prime, tree-shaded position on the shores of Lavon Lake in Collin County, Texas. Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, it's the only shaded campground at the 21,400-acre lake formed by the East Fork of the Trinity River. The 23 individual campsites feature full hookups with water, sewer, and 30-amp electric service. Amenities include hot showers, restrooms, a boat ramp, and a fishing dock. The lake offers excellent fishing for channel catfish, crappie, striped bass, and hybrid bass. A separate group campground accommodates up to 200 people and includes a picnic shelter with electric and water hookups, four cookers, a large playing field, and a campfire ring. The park is located just east of Southfork Ranch, where the TV series "Dallas" was filmed. Nearby Wylie is home to a wildlife rescue and education center featuring lions, leopards, cougars, and bobcats.
Directions
From US Highway 380 in Princeton, TX, take South 2nd Street (County Road 982) south. CR 982 becomes County Road 735. At the 4-way stop past the Lavon Lake Camp and Conference Center, turn right on County Road 436. Follow CR 436 into Clear Lake Park, watching for signs.
