About

Clear Creek Campground occupies a riparian oasis in the Verde Valley at 3,200 feet elevation. The creek runs year-round with cool water supporting smallmouth bass and green sunfish. Large cottonwoods provide welcome shade in summer, and the grassy terrain makes for comfortable tent camping. Birdwatching is excellent here, with raptors including hawks and bald eagles frequenting the area. The campground offers 18 family sites with cement picnic tables and fire rings with grill surfaces. Thirteen sites are reservable through Recreation.gov while five remain first-come-first-served. A separate group site handles larger gatherings up to 80 people with parking for 20-30 vehicles. Vault toilets and potable water from hand pumps are available. There are no hookups or showers. Montezuma Castle National Monument is a short drive away, featuring a remarkably preserved 1,000-year-old cliff dwelling. The nearby Montezuma Well is a natural spring producing over a million gallons daily.
