About
Chattahoochee Bend State Park protects a spectacular tract of wilderness in northwest Coweta County, encompassing 2,910 acres along a graceful bend of the Chattahoochee River. As one of Georgia's largest state parks, it safeguards five miles of river frontage and serves as a haven for paddlers, campers, and anglers seeking a natural escape. The park offers exceptional diversity in camping accommodations. RV owners can select from sunny pull-through and back-in sites at the main campground, while tent campers have multiple options including riverfront platform sites accessible by paddle or a 5.5-mile hike, walk-in sites for a more secluded experience, and traditional developed campsites. Unique screened Adirondack-style shelters provide a distinctive camping experience for families and groups. All camping areas are within walking distance of bathhouses featuring hot showers. The park also offers six cottages with screened porches, fire pits, and grills for those seeking more comfortable accommodations. Outdoor recreation opportunities abound with 12 miles of hiking trails, including the Riverside Trail offering up to 11 miles of riverside exploration, and 4.3 miles of mountain biking trails. A paved boat ramp provides easy river access for kayaking and canoeing, with paddling routes ranging from short day trips to multi-day excursions. An observation platform offers scenic views of the river and surrounding forest. The park includes covered picnic shelters, a playground, and a gift shop at the visitor center.
