Nestled on 50 acres along Lake Michigan's shoreline in the village of Pentwater, Charles Mears State Park provides a modern camping experience with convenient beach access. The campground features 175 sites with concrete pads surrounded by sand, divided into east and west loops. All sites include electric hookups, and some pull-through sites are available. Modern restrooms with showers, a sanitation station, and WiFi serve the campground. The park's day-use area offers a buoyed swim beach with accessible walkways, an accessible fishing pier, playground with rubberized surface, and picnic areas along the shoreline. A quarter-mile self-guided nature trail winds around Old Baldy dune, providing views of Lake Michigan and Pentwater harbor. The beach house includes restrooms, changing areas, and Simple Adventures concession store selling food, firewood, ice, and merchandise. Gifted to Michigan in 1923 by Carrie Mears, daughter of Pentwater founder Charles Mears, the park is renowned for stunning sunsets and its location steps from Pentwater's shops and restaurants. The park includes a pet-friendly beach at the south end, EV charging stations, and metal detecting opportunities. Additional lodging options include the Dune Grass Villa modern lodge and a hybrid camper rental.

Directions

Located at 400 West Lowell Street in Pentwater. The park sits on the north side of the channel connecting Lake Michigan and Pentwater Lake, just steps from downtown Pentwater.
