About

Harris Spring Campground is an undeveloped dispersed camping area located approximately 17 miles from Highway 89 via Forest Road 15 in the McCloud area of Shasta-Trinity National Forest. This remote site features about 15 user-created campsites spread across the area near a historic Forest Service guard station that has been restored but is no longer available for rental. The campground provides minimal amenities with only a vault toilet available. There is no potable water, trash service, or hookups of any kind. Campers must bring all their own water and pack out all trash. The sites do not have formal tables or fire rings. The area sits in an open dry meadow surrounded by conifer forest and is particularly popular with hunters during the fall hunting season. Access requires driving approximately 15 miles on Highway 89 from McCloud, then turning onto Forest Road 15 (Harris Spring Road) for another 17 miles. The campground is free with a 15-day stay limit. Winter access is not possible due to snow on Forest Road 15.
