About

Harris Springs Office is a historic Forest Service guard station situated in the remote backcountry of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, approximately 17 miles up Forest Road 15 from Highway 89 near McCloud, California. The building has been restored by the Forest Service but is no longer available through the cabin rental program. Visitors looking for overnight camping in this area should instead use the adjacent Harris Spring Campground, a separate primitive camping area with approximately 15 user-created sites, a vault toilet, and no fees. The campground has no potable water, and campers must be self-sufficient. The area is accessed via Harris Springs Road (Forest Road 15), a remote route that also provides access to other destinations like Little Mt. Hoffman Lookout. The forested terrain features pine and fir trees at approximately 4,800 feet elevation.

Directions

From McCloud Ranger Station on Highway 89, turn left onto Forest Road 15 (Harris Springs Road) and travel approximately 17 miles to the site on the right.
