About

Harris Springs Office is a restored historic Forest Service guard station located in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest's McCloud area at approximately 5,000 feet elevation. The station was actively used by fire personnel until the late 1990s, serving as both an office and remote fire station. While the historic building has been restored by the Forest Service, it is no longer part of the Lookouts and Cabins Rental Program. An adjacent primitive campground offers a quiet and peaceful forest experience. The area is accessed via Harris Springs Road (Forest Road 15), which is currently open and provides access to the surrounding national forest recreation areas. The location offers views of Mount Shasta and Castle Crags from the general vicinity. The area follows standard Shasta-Trinity National Forest regulations, with most recreation sites open from May 15 through September 15, though some areas may remain accessible as weather permits during other seasons. Water systems are typically turned off during winter months, so visitors should bring their own water supply.
