About

Catavee Campground occupies a forested location on Huntington Lake at 7,000 feet elevation in the Sierra National Forest, near the Kaiser Wilderness boundary. The 24-site campground is heavily forested with fir and pine trees that provide excellent privacy between sites. Several sites are positioned along Bear Creek, while others offer direct views of Huntington Lake. The campground features modern amenities including paved roads and parking spurs that accommodate RVs up to 30 feet in length. Each site includes a picnic table, grill, and fire ring. Flush toilets, drinking water from hand pumps, and accessible facilities are available throughout the campground. The Billy Creek Guard Station Museum sits adjacent to the campground, providing historical information about Huntington Lake, Native Americans, and the Forest Service. Huntington Lake serves as a hub for summer recreation including swimming, sailing, boating, fishing, and water skiing. The area offers extensive hiking opportunities with trails to Rancheria Falls, Indian Pools, and Black Point. The 12-mile Kaiser Loop Trail provides access to the Kaiser Wilderness trail network for hikers and horseback riders. California Land Management sponsors interpretive programs and nature walks throughout the summer at various locations around the lake.
