About

Rancheria Campground is a large lakeside facility located on the shores of Huntington Lake at 7,000 feet elevation near the Kaiser Wilderness in Sierra National Forest. The campground features 149 sites tucked under a dense canopy of fir and pine trees, including several walk-to tent-only sites positioned directly on the lakeshore that allow for informal mooring of boats. The campground accommodates both tent campers and RVs up to 40 feet in length. Each site includes a dirt parking spur, picnic table, campfire ring, and grill. Some sites offer lake views while others provide more privacy in the forest. An on-site amphitheater hosts campfire programs on summer weekends, and the campground serves as an excellent base for exploring both Huntington Lake and the Kaiser Wilderness. Nearby recreation includes numerous hiking trails such as Rancheria Falls (1 mile), Indian Pools (1 mile), and Black Point (0.7 miles). The 12-mile Kaiser Loop Trail provides access to the Kaiser Wilderness trail network. Huntington Lake offers swimming, sailing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing for rainbow and brook trout, and water skiing. The Billy Creek Guard Station museum and Eastwood Visitor Center are located nearby. Check-in is at the Vista Recreation Kiosk at the marina.

Directions

From Clovis, take Highway 168 east through Shaver Lake and continue to Huntington Lake. Rancheria Campground is located on the lake before reaching the Eastwood Visitor Center.
