About
College Campground is located on the shores of Huntington Lake in the Sierra National Forest, near the Kaiser Wilderness. Situated at 7,000 feet elevation, this tent-only campground offers a mix of wooded sites shaded by dense fir and pine trees and more open, meadow-like sites with tall grass. Several sites provide lake views, and some allow visitors to moor their boats nearby. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the Kaiser Wilderness, which features the 12-mile Kaiser Loop Trail connecting to an extensive network of trails. Popular nearby hikes include Rancheria Falls, Indian Pools, and Black Point. Huntington Lake itself offers swimming, sailing, boating, fishing, and water skiing. California Land Management sponsors interpretive programs and nature walks throughout the summer season at various locations around Huntington Lake. Kaiser Ridge, which reaches 10,320 feet and divides the wilderness into distinct northern and southern regions, provides commanding views of the central Sierra Nevada. The area is known for its scenic alpine and meadow landscapes, making it a prime destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking high sierra recreation.
