About
Casino Creek Campground is located along the scenic Salmon River in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, approximately 6 miles northeast of Stanley, Idaho. The campground features 19 sites including 2 double-sites, with sites 18 and 19 designated for tent camping only. Sites 12, 13, and 14 are equipped with hitching rails to accommodate livestock, making this a popular choice for equestrian campers. The Casino Creek trailhead is located within the campground, providing access to trails along Big Casino Creek and Little Casino Creek that lead to the stunning Casino Lakes. These trails traverse both the White Cloud Mountains to the east and the Sawtooth Mountains to the west, offering exceptional hiking and backcountry opportunities. The area is known for excellent fishing along the Salmon River and surrounding creeks. All sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground is managed by Recreation Resource Management of America during peak season and transitions to reduced service with vault toilets only in late September through November or snowfall. Winter road closures typically make the campground inaccessible from December through spring.
