About
Riverside Campground offers 17 first-come, first-served campsites situated along the banks of the Salmon River within a lodgepole pine forest in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. The campground is divided into two sections: sites 1-8 are accessible from mid-May through mid-September, while sites 10-17 are available from mid-May through August 15. These staggered closures help maintain stream bank integrity. The campground serves as an excellent base for fishing enthusiasts, with the Salmon River providing outstanding fishing opportunities right from camp. The nearby Casino Creek trailhead offers access to the pristine and isolated Casino Lakes, eventually leading into the scenic White Cloud Mountains, making this an ideal location for day hiking and backpacking adventures. Riverside is part of the Salmon River Recreation Complex, one of four popular campgrounds in the area including Salmon River, Casino Creek, and Mormon Bend campgrounds. All are highly sought after for their exceptional river access. The campground is located just 6 miles northeast of Stanley on Highway 75, following the border of the Cecil D. Andrus-White Clouds Wilderness.
