About

Mormon Bend Campground is situated along the Salmon River in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, 8 miles northeast of Stanley. The campground features 15 campsites including one double-site nestled in a lodgepole pine forest with sagebrush and open meadows. All sites are first-come, first-served only. The campground opens earlier than many others in the area to accommodate steelhead fishermen and provides excellent fishing access to the Salmon River and surrounding creeks. A designated put-in for float boaters is located within the campground, making it a popular spot for river trips. Visitors can fish for trout and steelhead in season. Mormon Bend includes potable water, vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. Pack animals are permitted. The campground operates under a 10-day occupancy limit within a 30-day period and 30-mile radius throughout the SNRA. Campers must occupy their site the first night and cannot leave it unoccupied for more than 24 hours.
