Canyon Campground
Closed for the season. Opens May 29, 2026 and closes September 20, 2026. Early season dates May 29 through June 4 are first-come, first-served. Reservations for the remainder of the season are handled through Yellowstone National Park Lodges. Beginning in 2027, reservations will transition to Recreation.gov.

In northwest Wyoming, Absaroka Mountains, Jackson Hole, Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains and Yellowstone National Park. In west central Wyoming, Salt River and Wyoming Ranges and Star Valley. * WHEN...Through Sunday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Increased moisture from the Pacific will move across northwest Wyoming through the weekend, bringing an extended chance for showers and thunderstorms. The increased moisture will have the potential to produce locally heavy rainfall, providing excessive runoff in flood-prone and low-lying areas. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
About
Canyon Campground occupies a lodgepole pine forest at 7,900 feet elevation in the heart of Yellowstone, adjacent to Canyon Village and the spectacular Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River. The campground provides convenient access to iconic viewpoints along the North and South Rim trails, as well as longer hikes to Cascade Lake and Mount Washburn. The 272 individual sites include options for tents, RVs, combination sites, and hiker/bicyclist walk-in sites. Amenities include 15 restroom buildings with flush toilets and cold running water, dishwashing stations, hot showers, laundry facilities, and an RV dump station. Firewood is sold on-site. Bear-proof food storage boxes are available, and all food and scented items must be properly stored when not in use. Canyon Village offers full services including stores, restaurants, and lodging within walking distance. Cell service is limited and no Wi-Fi is available in the campground. Generators are permitted only at RV and combination sites from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 60 decibels maximum.
