Canoe-Picnic Point State Park occupies a quiet, wooded peninsula on Grindstone Island in the heart of the Thousand Islands region. There are no bridges or ferries to the park; visitors must arrive by private boat or rent one from nearby Wellesley Island State Park Marina or Grass Point Marina. The isolation makes this an ideal retreat for paddlers, anglers, and those seeking solitude on the St. Lawrence River. The campground offers 25 tent-only sites and 5 rustic cabins, each accommodating up to 4-6 people. Facilities include restrooms, showers, potable water, and generous dock space. Firewood and ice are available for purchase. Picnic Point, at the south end of the park, features a scenic gazebo that can be reserved for group gatherings. Fishing is excellent in the surrounding waters, with opportunities for bass, pike, and muskie. A nature trail winds through the woods, and hunting is permitted in season. The park's remote character means no hookups, dump station, or WiFi, but the tradeoff is a peaceful camping experience away from crowds.

Directions

The park is on the northeast end of Grindstone Island, facing Eel Bay and the Canadian Channel. Access is by boat only. Launch from Wellesley Island (over the Thousand Islands Bridge) or from Grass Point State Park on Route 12, 1 mile south of the bridge.
