About

Canoe-Picnic Point State Park offers a unique boat-access-only camping destination in the heart of New York's Thousand Islands region on the St. Lawrence River. The park is divided into two areas: Canoe Point, which features the camping facilities, and Picnic Point to the south, a scenic day-use area. The campground provides 25 tent sites and 5 rustic cabins nestled in a wooded setting, all accessible only by watercraft. With 48 dock slips available, visitors can easily moor their boats near their campsites. Named after the American Canoe Association, which formerly held annual meetings at this location, the park offers a peaceful retreat away from road noise and vehicular traffic. Amenities include showers, grills, picnic tables, and a nature trail for exploring the island terrain. Picnic Point features a beautiful gazebo available for rental, a shore dinner cooking facility, and additional dockage. The surrounding waters provide excellent fishing opportunities, particularly for bass. Boat rentals are available nearby for those who need watercraft to reach the park. The remote, wooded character and requirement for boat access make this an ideal destination for campers seeking solitude and a true island camping adventure.
