About

Camp Branch Campground sits on the shores of Smithville Lake, a 7,190-acre U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir managed for recreation by Clay County Parks. Located just 30 minutes north of downtown Kansas City, the campground provides easy access to fishing, boating, hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails along the shoreline. The campground features 346 sites spread across multiple loops, including 134 unimproved primitive sites and over 200 sites with 50-amp electric hookups, many of which also include water connections. Modern shower houses with restrooms are centrally located in each camping loop, and a dump station is available at the campground entrance. Each campsite is equipped with a fire pit and grill. Camp Branch Swim Beach operates adjacent to the campground from May 1 through September 15, providing swimming access with changing rooms and restroom facilities. ADA-accessible campsites and facilities are available with proper documentation. The maximum stay is 15 consecutive nights within any 30-day period.
