About

Lewis and Clark State Park Campground is located in northwest Missouri along Lewis and Clark Lake, an oxbow lake that William Clark described in 1804 as full of geese and goslings. The campground features 54 level, spacious sites designed to accommodate even the largest RVs, with 47 electric sites (including 50-amp options) and 7 basic sites. Driveways range up to 96 feet with both pull-through and back-in configurations. The 189-acre park sits in Buchanan County near Rushville and offers broad open spaces popular with families. Each campsite includes a table and barbecue grill. The campground is fully reservable up to 12 months in advance through Missouri State Parks. During the off-season, potable water remains available from a frost-free spigot at the dump station. Bird watchers frequent the park to observe geese, great blue herons, bald eagles, swans, and snowy egrets that gather around the lake throughout the seasons. The park also features hiking trails, picnic areas, and a playground. Due to prolonged drought conditions, the lake may be dry at times.

Directions

From Rushville, Missouri, head southwest on Highway 59 for approximately 20 miles to Highway 45. Turn southeast onto Highway 45 and continue for 1 mile to reach the park entrance.
