Camp 9 Lakeside Group Campgrounds is located on the northeast shore of Lake Isabella, a high desert reservoir in Sequoia National Forest at approximately 2,600 feet elevation. The facility offers 11 group camping sites that operate year-round and can be reserved through Recreation.gov. Group Site 1 accommodates up to 50 people with a maximum of 8 vehicles, while other sites accommodate 20-35 people. All sites feature full shade, picnic tables, and access to vault toilets. The campground's lakeside location makes it popular for water recreation including waterskiing, boating, swimming, and fishing. A boat launch ramp is available nearby with automated fee collection. Additional facilities include mobility-impaired beach access, a volleyball court, fish cleaning station, and an RV dump station. A motocross track and shooting range are located in the vicinity. Sites 3, 4, and 5 have water access, though campers are advised to bring their own drinking water or water filters. The campground is managed by ExplorUS concessionaire and enforces quiet hours from 10pm to 6pm March through October. Glass containers are prohibited around Lake Isabella and the Kern River. ATVs and OHVs are not permitted in the campground. Located south of the historic gold rush town of Kernville via Sierra Way/County Road 521, the facility provides easy access to both Lake Isabella and the Upper Kern River.
