About
Cable Mountain Campground sits on 5 wooded acres along the North Fork of Flint Creek in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, approximately 3 miles north of Georgetown Lake. The campground features 11 first-come-first-served sites shaded by lodgepole pine, Douglas-fir, and Engelmann spruce, with the creek running through the campground area. Georgetown Lake is one of Montana's premier fisheries, offering nearly year-round angling for trophy brook and rainbow trout and kokanee salmon. The Red Lion Trailhead is a short walk from camp, connecting to the Discovery Ski Area and the Echo Lake trail system. These trails accommodate hiking, mountain biking, and Nordic skiing in winter. Numerous trails in the Pintler Ranger District lead into the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness. The campground provides vault toilets (ADA-accessible), potable water via hand pump, bear-resistant storage lockers, picnic tables, and fire rings. There are no hookups, showers, or dump station. The recommended trailer length is 22 feet. Pack out all trash as there is no garbage service. Cash or check payment required on-site, though QR code payment via the Recreation.gov app may be available.
