About

Burnwood Group Campsite is the dedicated group camping area within New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, designed specifically for parties of 8 or more people. Located on US Route 19 just north of Fayetteville, the campsite sits directly across the highway from Canyon Rim Visitor Center, providing convenient access to park information and the iconic New River Gorge Bridge overlook. The campground occupies a grassy field with a gravel parking lot, offering a primitive but comfortable tent camping experience. Amenities include year-round flush toilets, potable water, and trash/recycling collection. Restrooms are ADA accessible. Cell phone reception is available. No RV hookups or showers are provided. A Special Use Permit is mandatory and costs $75 per night. Permits must be requested at least 10 business days before arrival by contacting the permits office. Quiet hours are enforced from 10 PM to 6 PM. Campfires are permitted in existing fire rings using only dead wood found on the ground. Pets must remain leashed at all times.

Directions

Burnwood Campground is located on U.S. Route 19, just north of Fayetteville, WV, at 83 Burnwood Campground Road, Lansing, WV 25862. U.S. Route 19 is easily reached from Interstates I-64 and I-79, as well as U.S. Route 60.
