About

Battle Run Campground occupies prime waterfront real estate on Summersville Lake, known for its superb water quality, striking sandstone cliffs, and 60 miles of scenic shoreline. The campground features 110 sites with 20/30/50 amp electric hookups on generally level, gravel pads, plus seven primitive walk-in tent sites for those seeking a more rustic experience. Facilities are well-developed for a Corps campground: flush toilets, hot showers, potable water, coin laundry, and a dump station. The on-site boat ramp and fishing dock put you directly on water that supports largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleye, panfish, and catfish. Trout are stocked below the dam in spring and fall. Beyond the campground, the area delivers serious adventure. World-class whitewater rafting runs year-round on the Gauley River, and the New River Gorge offers over 1,400 established rock climbs on 30-120 foot sandstone cliffs just 18 miles south. Historic Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park sits 10 minutes away with Civil War history and Gauley River overlooks.
