About
Buffalo River State Park campground provides a comfortable base for exploring one of Minnesota's finest tallgrass prairie preserves. Located 14 miles east of Moorhead in Clay County, the campground occupies a shaded hardwood forest along the winding Buffalo River, offering a pleasant contrast to the open prairie landscape that surrounds it. The seasonal campground features drive-in sites suitable for tents and RVs, with many sites offering electric hookups. Modern amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, drinking water, and a dump station. Each campsite comes equipped with a picnic table and fire ring with grill for cooking. Beyond camping, the park offers swimming in the river, hiking trails through both prairie and forest habitats, and exceptional wildflower viewing from spring through fall. The adjacent Bluestem Prairie Scientific and Natural Area, managed by The Nature Conservancy, expands the protected tallgrass prairie to over 6,000 acres.
Directions
From Moorhead, drive 14 miles east on US Highway 10 to Glyndon. The park entrance is just south of Highway 10.
