About

Buffalo River State Park Campground offers 44 drive-in campsites located in a peaceful hardwood forest setting along the Buffalo River in western Minnesota. The campground features 35 sites with electric hookups providing 20, 30, and 50-amp service, plus 9 non-electric sites for tent and RV camping. Modern amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, and a dump station, all available seasonally. Two sites are ADA accessible, and the campground can accommodate large RVs with a length limit of 60 feet. All sites require backing in. The park is renowned for preserving one of Minnesota's finest and largest remnant prairies, home to over 250 species of wildflowers and grasses. Visitors can explore 12 miles of relatively flat hiking trails that wind through both prairie and old-growth forest ecosystems. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with chances to see bobolinks, greater prairie chickens, marbled godwits, and upland sandpipers. The park also offers picnicking, fishing in the Buffalo River, and year-round trail access for hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. A separate group camp is available for up to 50 people. Note that the swimming pond has been permanently closed since 2019.
