About

Bucksaw Campground is a premier Corps of Engineers camping destination located on a peninsula along the Grand River Arm of Harry S. Truman Lake in western Missouri. The campground offers 146 total sites including 45 sites with 30-amp service, 70 sites with 50-amp and water, 14 sites with 50-amp, water, and sewer, plus 17 primitive sites. The peninsula setting provides flat terrain with excellent lake views, well-shaded sites, and expansive grassy areas throughout. The facility is well-equipped with both flush and vault toilets, hot showers, drinking water, laundry facilities, and a dump station. Recreational amenities include a boat ramp, playground, and swimming beach. For hiking, a mile-long trail is accessible across the road from the A & B loop showerhouse. Bucksaw Point Marina is located adjacent to the campground. Harry S. Truman Lake is renowned for fishing, with abundant populations of crappie, largemouth bass, blue catfish, flathead catfish, walleye, and paddlefish. Approximately 8,800 acres of standing timber were left in the lake to provide quality aquatic habitat. The area also offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities including whitetail deer, turkey, hawks, ospreys, bald eagles, and various waterfowl.
