About
The Bow River Ranger Station is a piece of Forest Service history, originally built in the 1960s to house the ranger responsible for the northern portion of the Snowy Range. Today, this all-electric cabin serves as a rental facility that comfortably sleeps up to 10 guests. The cabin features one full bathroom equipped with a shower, double sink, and toilet, plus a half bath with toilet and sink. The full kitchen comes stocked with basic pots, pans, dishes, and silverware. Two bedrooms provide sleeping accommodations: the first has two bunk beds, while the second offers two bunk beds and two twin beds.
The cabin sits on the national forest boundary where sagebrush meets the forest, offering a unique ecological transition zone. Outside, guests will find a vault toilet, outdoor seating area with fire ring, and picnic tables. The facility is ADA accessible with a ramp to the front door. The Upper Medicine Bow River flows past the backyard, providing excellent fishing and wildlife viewing opportunities. Nearby attractions include Turpin Reservoir, Sand Lake, and Bow River Campground.
Guests should note that while the water is potable, it can sometimes be discolored, so bringing bottled water is recommended. There is no trash service, so pack in and pack out is required. Cell phone coverage is fair depending on carrier. Pets are allowed outside only and must be leashed and cleaned up after. No additional tents, trailers, or campers are permitted on site.
