The Bow River Ranger Station is a historic Forest Service cabin available for rental in the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests. This all-electric facility accommodates up to 10 guests across two bedrooms: one with two bunk beds and another with two bunk beds plus two twin beds. The cabin features a full bathroom with shower, double sink, and toilet, plus a half bath with toilet and sink. The large kitchen comes equipped with basic pots, pans, dishes, and silverware.
The property sits at the national forest boundary where sagebrush prairie transitions into mountain forest near Elk Mountain, Wyoming. The Upper Medicine Bow River flows directly behind the cabin, providing excellent fishing and wildlife viewing opportunities. Nearby attractions include Turpin Reservoir, Sand Lake, and Bow River Campground.
Outdoor amenities include a vault toilet, fire ring, and picnic tables. An on-site host is available. Guests must clean the cabin before departure and pack out all trash. No additional tents, campers, or trailers are permitted on site.
Directions
From Interstate 80: Take exit 255 south to Elk Mountain. Continue south on Carbon County Road 101 for 13 miles to the Forest Boundary. The cabin is visible from the road in a meadow at the boundary. From Saratoga: Take Highway 130 to Forest Service Road 100 for 16 miles, then Forest Service Road 101 for 2 miles.
