About
Located along the upper Medicine Bow River at 8,600 feet elevation, Bow River Campground provides a tranquil camping experience in a heavily wooded forest of lodgepole pine, spruce, and young aspen. The 13 campsites are well-separated with dense understory and middle-story vegetation that provides excellent privacy between sites. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring.
The campground serves as a base for exploring the surrounding Snowy Range area. Anglers can fish the Medicine Bow River directly from the campground, while nearby streams and over 100 alpine lakes offer additional fishing opportunities. OHV enthusiasts can access the Campbell Lake Loop approximately 9 miles south after July 1. Hikers have access to multiple trails including Rock Creek, Sheep Lake, and Crater Lake. The area is home to deer, elk, moose, and other wildlife.
This is a pack-in, pack-out campground with no trash service. The remote location requires a slow drive on Forest Road 100, but rewards visitors with solitude and natural beauty. The campground is suitable for small trailers only due to site size and access road conditions.
Directions
From Saratoga, take Snowy Range Highway (WY-130) east 20 miles to Forest Road 100. Turn onto FR 100 and drive approximately 20 miles to the campground (slow drive).
