About

Bluffview Recreation Area sits along the Salt River approximately 10 miles downstream from Clarence Cannon Dam and Mark Twain Lake in north-central Missouri. A smaller re-regulation dam creates a storage pool for wetland purposes, providing excellent fishing opportunities, particularly for bass below the dam. The surrounding landscape features tree-topped hills characteristic of this region where Mark Twain explored as a youth. This is primarily a day-use facility managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, offering a boat ramp, playground, and picnic shelters for visitors. One group shelter with electrical hookup (Site GS1) is available for reservation through Recreation.gov. Bird watching for waterfowl and boating are popular activities. Nearby attractions include Mark Twain's birthplace in Florida, Missouri, the David C. Berti Shooting Range, and the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum in Hannibal.
