Alpine Campground & Group Area

About

Alpine North Loop Campground is located in beautiful Star Valley, Wyoming at an elevation of 5,640 feet within the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. The campground offers 19 total sites, including single and double standard sites as well as three group sites that can accommodate up to 50 people each. Standard sites can handle RVs and trailers up to 60 feet, while group sites accommodate vehicles up to 40 feet. Amenities include potable drinking water from faucets, vault toilets, trash collection, and campfire rings with grills. Firewood is available for purchase from the camp host. The campground has gravel roads and parking spurs, with some sites featuring stairs from the parking area to the site pad. No electricity, hookups, or showers are available. The area offers excellent recreation opportunities, including boating and fishing on Palisades Reservoir. Wild and stocked cutthroat trout, brown trout, Kokanee salmon, and Mackinaw trout can all be found in the lake. Boat ramps are located 2 miles away in Alpine and approximately 10 miles away near Blowout Campground off Highway 26. The cozy town of Alpine is just 2 miles west, and Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park make for great day trips.

Directions

From Idaho Falls, ID: Take Highway 26 southeast for 70 miles, passing Palisades Reservoir. Campground is on the west side of the highway just before the Wyoming state line. From Jackson Hole, WY: Head 40 miles south, then go 2 miles west of Alpine, Wyoming on Highway 26. Campground is located along the highway.
