About

Blowout Campground is a scenic first-come, first-served campground located along Highway 26 in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. Sitting at 5,600 feet elevation, the campground offers partial shade from aspens and tall lodgepole pines. The 15 sites (11 single-family and 4 double-family) feature vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings, though no potable water is available. The nearby Palisades Reservoir is the main attraction, with the Blowout Boat Ramp just down the hill from the campground. The reservoir offers excellent fishing for Yellowstone cutthroat trout, brown trout, lake trout, and kokanee salmon. Motorized and non-motorized boating, water skiing, and swimming are all popular activities. During the main season from late May through early September, fees are $17 per night for single sites and $34 for double sites. Senior and Access Pass holders receive discounts on single sites. After the season closes in early September, the campground remains accessible for dry camping with no fee, though bathrooms are locked.
