Blowout Campground

About

Blowout Campground is nestled near the shores of Palisades Reservoir within the Caribou-Targhee National Forest's Palisades Ranger District, approximately 58 miles southeast of Idaho Falls on U.S. Highway 26. At an elevation of 5,600 feet, the campground is partially shaded by aspens and tall lodgepole pines across gentle slopes with gravel roads and parking spurs. The campground features 11 single-family sites and 4 double-family sites, each equipped with picnic tables and campfire rings. Vault toilets are available during the main season, but there is no drinking water on site, so campers must bring their own supply. The Blowout Boat Ramp is located down the hill from the campground, providing easy access to Palisades Reservoir for motorized and non-motorized boating, water skiing, and fishing for Yellowstone cutthroat trout, brown trout, lake trout, and kokanee salmon. The nearby South Fork of the Snake River also offers excellent angling opportunities for cutthroat, rainbow trout, and whitefish.
