Alpine North Loop Campground is located in beautiful Star Valley, Wyoming at an elevation of 5,640 feet in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the late 1930s, the campground sits in a forest of lodgepole pines that provide partial shade. The campground offers single and double sites, plus three group sites that can accommodate up to 50 people each. Sites feature picnic tables and campfire rings with grills, though some have stairs from the parking spur to the site pad. Palisades Reservoir is very close, offering excellent boating, water skiing, swimming, and canoeing opportunities. Lake and shore fishing for wild and stocked cutthroat trout is popular, along with brown trout, Kokanee salmon, and Mackinaw trout. Boat ramps are located 2 miles away in Alpine and about 10 miles away near Blowout Campground. The Grey's River, Salt River, and Snake River merge nearby, providing additional fishing and wildlife viewing. The Palisades Creek Trail begins near the campground, leading hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders to Upper Palisades Lake with expansive views of Swan Valley. The cozy town of Alpine is just 2 miles east with services and the annual Mountain Days Celebration in June. Jackson, Wyoming sits 40 miles north with restaurants, shops, and ski resorts. Grand Teton National Park is approximately 55 miles north, offering world-class scenery and outdoor recreation. Summer wildflowers are abundant throughout the area, though wind and summer thunderstorms should be expected.
