Birch Creek Campground

Open

Open and accessible when the access road is passable. No winter maintenance on the 1-mile dirt road from Highway 39. Road conditions depend on snowmelt and weather.

About

Birch Creek Campground sits at 6,755 feet elevation in the Monte Cristo Mountains of Rich County, Utah, managed by the BLM Salt Lake Field Office. This primitive, no-fee campground provides 4 walk-in tent sites approximately 50 yards from the parking area. RV and vehicle camping is permitted in the parking lot, though amenities are limited to a vault toilet. The campground's primary draw is its location between Birch Creek Reservoir and Little Creek Reservoir, both stocked annually with tiger trout. Birch Creek Reservoir allows non-motorized watercraft only and offers walk-in fishing access. The remote setting provides solitude for anglers and campers seeking a quiet escape. Access is via a 1-mile dirt road off Highway 39, approximately 9 miles west of Woodruff. The access road receives no winter maintenance, limiting access to snow-free months typically from late spring through fall depending on conditions.

Directions

From Woodruff, go 9 miles west on UT-39. At the small BLM sign, take the dirt road northwest 1 mile to the campground.
