About

Small Vehicle Campground is a free, primitive BLM campground located in the Scab Creek Recreation Area near Boulder, Wyoming. Positioned at approximately 8,200 feet in the foothills of the Wind River Mountains, it provides direct access to some of Wyoming's most spectacular wilderness. The campground features 12 sites including one group site, with vault toilets and potable water available. The Scab Lake trailhead is located at the campground entrance, and the Scab Creek trailhead can be found at the backpacker parking area along the access road before reaching the campground. This makes it an ideal basecamp for day hikes or extended backcountry trips. Pack stock are not permitted at this campground or the backpacker parking area; those with horses or stock animals should use the adjacent Large Vehicle Campground or Pack Stock Staging Area. Access is via a gravel BLM road from Boulder. The high elevation means snow can impact accessibility in late spring and early fall. There is a 14-day stay limit.
