About
Boulder Lake Campground is a remote, primitive camping destination located 25 miles southeast of Pinedale, Wyoming, in the Bridger-Teton National Forest. The campground sits at 7,300 feet elevation on the eastern shore of Boulder Lake, surrounded by lodgepole pines, aspens, and willows. With 15 first-come, first-served sites, each equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern holder, the campground provides a rustic mountain experience for those seeking solitude in Wyoming's backcountry. The campground serves as a gateway to both water-based and backcountry recreation. Boulder Lake and Boulder Creek offer excellent fishing opportunities, while the surrounding national forest provides access to hiking and backpacking trails. Swimming in the lake is popular during summer months, and the scenic alpine setting makes for exceptional nature photography. The area experiences light usage compared to more developed campgrounds, offering visitors a quiet escape. Facilities are minimal. Vault toilets are provided, but there is no drinking water available on-site, so campers must bring their own supply. Proper food storage is required due to bear activity in the area. The remote location and primitive conditions make this campground best suited for experienced campers comfortable with backcountry camping. Access is via Boulder Lake Road and Forest Service Road 370780, with the campground located at the end of the road approximately 24 miles from Pinedale.
Directions
From Pinedale, head south on US Highway 191 for 12 miles, then turn left on Wyoming State Highway 353. After 2.3 miles, turn left onto Boulder Lake Road/County Road 125. Follow CR-125 for 7 miles where it becomes Forest Service Road 370780 upon entering the national forest. Continue 3.5 miles to the campground at the end of the road. Total distance is approximately 24 miles, 34 minutes from Pinedale.
