About

Buffalo Crossing Campground is a historic Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) era site located at the southern end of the East Fork canyon in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests. At 7,540 feet elevation, it offers 16 single-unit campsites that are the largest along the East Fork Black River, providing spacious camping in a scenic riparian corridor. The East Fork meanders through the forested valley, shaded by tall ponderosa pines and bordered by grasses, alders, and cottonwoods. Campsites are located a few steps from the stream to protect the river's unique riparian zone, but access to the water is easy as the undergrowth enhances the picturesque setting rather than obstructing passage. Fishing opportunities are available along the river. This is a primitive, first-come, first-served campground with no reservations. Facilities include vault toilets and picnic tables at each site. Campers must bring their own drinking water as potable water is not available on-site. Potable water can be obtained at Diamond Rock area or Horse Springs Campground nearby.
