About

Big Cottonwood Campground is a small, primitive Bureau of Land Management campground situated along the East Fork of the Jarbidge River in remote Owyhee County, Idaho. Located about half a mile north of Murphy Hot Springs, this free campground offers 4 sites with basic amenities including picnic tables, grills, and vault toilets. Campers must bring their own drinking water as none is available on site. The campground sits at approximately 5,125 feet elevation and is accessible by two-wheel drive vehicles via the paved Jarbidge Road (Three Creek Highway) from Rogerson or via the Bruneau-Three Creek Road. The remote setting provides excellent opportunities for fishing in the Jarbidge River, wildlife viewing, and photography. No cell service is available in this area. The campground operates seasonally from April through October, weather permitting. All sites are first-come, first-served with a 14-day stay limit. The maximum vehicle length is 30 feet, making it suitable for smaller RVs and trailers but not large rigs.

Directions

Travel to Murphy Hot Springs via the Bruneau-Three Creek Road or the Jarbidge Road (Three Creek Highway). The Jarbidge Road has an asphalt surface and originates from U.S. 93 at Rogerson, Idaho. From Rogerson to Murphy Hot Springs is 49 miles. The campground is half a mile north of Murphy Hot Springs.
