About

Big Cottonwood Campground is a small, primitive Bureau of Land Management campground located in the remote Jarbidge region of Owyhee County, Idaho. The campground features 4 campsites positioned along the East Fork of the Jarbidge River, approximately half a mile north of Murphy Hot Springs. Despite its remote location, the campground is accessible by two-wheel drive vehicles via the Bruneau-Three Creek Road or the Jarbidge Road (Three Creek Highway). The campground provides basic amenities typical of BLM facilities, including picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets. The remote location offers solitude and access to the surrounding high desert landscape, with opportunities for exploring the Jarbidge River corridor, wildlife viewing, and enjoying the natural hot springs nearby. The area is managed by the BLM Jarbidge Field Office. Campers should come prepared for primitive conditions and bring all necessary supplies, including water. The nearest services are in Rogerson, Idaho, approximately 49 miles from Murphy Hot Springs via the Jarbidge Road. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations available.

Directions

Travel to Murphy Hot Springs via the Bruneau-Three Creek Road or the Jarbidge Road. The Jarbidge Road, also called Three Creek Highway, has an asphalt surface and originates from U.S. 93 at Rogerson, Idaho. From Rogerson to Murphy Hot Springs it is 49 miles. The campground is located half a mile north of Murphy Hot Springs.
