Gusty southeast winds as high as 20 to locally 25 mph, combined with dry conditions will lead to elevated wildfire potential this afternoon across most of Upper Michigan away from the shorelines of the Great Lakes. About

Bewabic State Park Campground occupies a prime lakefront setting on Fortune Lake, part of the Fortune Lakes Chain in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, the park retains several historic CCC structures still in use today. The 130-site modern campground is organized into three loops (A, B, and C) with shaded, wooded sites offering good privacy between neighbors. Loop C features pull-through sites suitable for larger RVs up to 40 feet, while Loops A and B are better suited for tents and smaller units. Four rustic walk-in sites (107-110) provide a more primitive experience within 125 yards of the parking area, without electrical hookups. Modern sites feature electric hookups with some 50-amp service available, though no water hookups at individual sites. Facilities include two shower houses with flush toilets, vault toilets distributed throughout the loops, potable water spigots, and a sanitary dump station. Recreation options include a public boat launch on Fortune Lake, kayak, canoe, and paddleboard rentals available Memorial Day through Labor Day, hiking trails including a nature trail, tennis courts, horseshoe pits, and two playgrounds. ORV riders can access nearby trails connecting to Twin Lakes and Baraga State Parks. The park is site number 9 on the Iron County Heritage Trail system.
