About

Bewabic State Park Campground is located on Fortune Lake, part of the Fortune Lakes Chain in Iron County's Upper Peninsula. The 130-site modern campground features three loops (A, B, and C) situated in a shady, wooded setting with trees and vegetation providing privacy between sites. Most sites include electrical hookups, fire rings, and picnic tables, with some sites offering 50-amp service and pull-through configurations. Four rustic walk-in sites (#107-110) require a short walk of up to 125 yards from parking and do not have electrical service. The campground is notable as one of few Michigan state parks permitting ORV operation between the campground and nearby trail systems, including the Heritage Trail and connections to Twin Lakes and Baraga state parks. The park features Civilian Conservation Corps historic structures still in use today and is site #9 on the Iron County Heritage Trail system. Amenities include modern restrooms with showers, a sanitation station, playground, potable water, and firewood sales. A nature trail beginning in the campground leads to the day-use area on Fortune Lake. Fortune Lake offers excellent fishing, paddling, and swimming opportunities with a designated beach area. The park provides boat launch access, paddlesport rentals from Memorial Day through September, and a picnic shelter with electrical service available for reservation. Winter activities include cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on ungroomed trails.
