PERCH LAKE

Open — Open year-round on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations available. Winter access may be limited due to snow. No potable water or trash service provided.

About

Located just west of Whisker Lake Wilderness in the Nicolet National Forest, Perch Lake offers a secluded backcountry camping experience for those seeking solitude. The Perch Lake Trail circles the scenic lake and provides access to 5 primitive walk-in campsites, each equipped with a tent pad, picnic table, fire ring, and wilderness-style pit toilet. This dispersed camping area is ideal for hikers and anglers looking to escape developed campgrounds. The lake is stocked with bluegills and largemouth bass, and the surrounding area provides opportunities for hiking and wildlife viewing. The trail and campsites are accessed via a walking trail, requiring campers to pack in their gear. The primitive nature of this campground means no potable water, trash service, or other amenities are provided. Campers should come prepared with water and practice Leave No Trace principles by packing out all trash. The area operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations available.
