About

Perch Lake Trail and Campsites provides a backcountry camping experience in the Eagle River-Florence District of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. The trail circles Perch Lake and passes five walk-in campsites, each equipped with a tent pad, picnic table, and fire ring. Wilderness-style pit toilets serve the area. The lake is stocked with bluegills and largemouth bass, making it a good destination for anglers willing to hike in. Located just west of the Whisker Lake Wilderness, this area offers true seclusion. Campers should be prepared for primitive conditions: there is no potable water, so bring your own supply, and plan to pack out all trash. The walk-in nature of these sites means no RV or vehicle access to campsites. Two trailheads provide access, with parking available at each.

Directions

From Florence, take State Highway 70 west 12 miles to FR 2154, turn left and go south 1/4 mile to the trailhead on the right. Parking for 12 vehicles is on the left. Alternate route: From Florence, take Highway 70 west 15.5 miles to FR 2450, turn left and go south 1 mile to FR 2156, then southeast 2 miles to the trailhead with parking for 4 vehicles.
