Lost Lake Cabins sits amidst old-growth hemlock and maple forest on the shores of a 92-acre spring-fed lake in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. The facility offers 11 cabins in a group setting, making it ideal for family reunions, retreats, or large gatherings. Eight standard cabins are simple one-room structures with three bunk beds each, sleeping up to six people, with electricity for lights and outlets. Staff Cabin #1 offers more amenities including a full kitchen, bathroom with shower, and baseboard heat. The First Aid Cabin sleeps four with a kitchenette and half bath. Central facilities include separate men's and women's bath/shower houses and a commercial kitchen refurbished in 2012 with a gas range, oven, freezer/refrigerator, and double sink. The Lecture Hall seats 90 and features accessibility accommodations plus recreational equipment including air hockey, foosball, ping pong, and tumbling mats. Potable water is available at the central well house. Lost Lake is a no-motor lake stocked annually with brown and rainbow trout, with healthy populations of smallmouth bass and panfish. A small beach at the cabins provides swimming access. The Lost Lake Trail offers a 1-mile interpretive walk through 150-year-old hemlock and pine, connecting to the Ridge and Assessors trails. The Whisker Lake Wilderness is a 10-minute drive away, and day trips to Sylvania Wilderness, Bond Falls, Porcupine Mountains, and Pictured Rocks are all within two hours.

Directions

From Florence, take Highway 70 west about 20 miles and turn right onto Forest Service Road 2450. Go about 1 mile and continue straight onto Forest Service Road 2156 toward Chipmunk Rapids Campground for about 3 miles. Cross the bridge over the Pine River, pass Chipmunk Rapids Campground on your left, continue about 1 mile past Lost Lake Campground on your left, then turn left into the driveway about 100 yards later. Address is 4450 Chipmunk Rapids Road. If you hit gravel, you've gone too far.
