About
Lost Lake Cabins provides a rustic group camping experience on the shores of Lost Lake within the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. The facility features 11 cabins that can accommodate up to 60 people total, making it ideal for family reunions, group retreats, or individual getaways. Cabins 1 through 8 and Staff Cabin #2 are simple one-room wood frame structures with three bunk beds sleeping up to six people, all equipped with electricity, lights, and outlets. Staff Cabin #1 offers more comfort with a full kitchen, bathroom with shower, and baseboard heat, sleeping two. The First Aid Cabin sleeps four with a kitchenette, half bath, and heat. Guests must bring their own bedding and pillows. Central facilities include separate men's and women's bathhouses with showers, a recreation hall with activities like air hockey and foosball, an optional-rental kitchen with gas stove and refrigerator, and a lecture hall accommodating up to 90 people. Drinking water is provided from a well house faucet. The 92-acre Lost Lake is spring-fed and designated as a no-motor lake, stocked annually with brown trout, rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, and panfish. A small beach at the cabins and a larger beach at the nearby Lost Lake Campground provide swimming opportunities. Boat access is available at the campground, and canoes, kayaks, and other watercraft are available for rent on-site through camp hosts. The Lost Lake Trail, a 1-mile interpretive trail through 150-year-old hemlock and pine, begins near the cabins and connects to the Ridge Trail, Assessors Trail, and the Lauterman National Recreation Trail system. The Whisker Lake Wilderness is about 10 minutes away, and day trips to the Upper Peninsula's Sylvania Wilderness, Bond Falls, Porcupine Mountains, or Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore are within a two-hour drive. The facility is managed by on-site hosts located in Staff Cabin #3.
