About

Point Lookout State Park Campground sits at Maryland's southernmost point, a narrow peninsula where the Potomac River empties into the Chesapeake Bay. The location offers expansive water views and access to both the bay and river for fishing, crabbing, and paddling. The campground's 72 sites spread across three loops: Tulip Loop provides full hookups (water, electric, sewer) for self-contained campers only, while Hoffman's and Malone Loops offer a mix of electric-only and primitive tent sites in a wooded setting. Facilities include modern bathhouses with restrooms and hot showers near each camping loop, a dump station, and potable water. The seasonal camp store (open Memorial Day through Labor Day) stocks snacks, ice, bait, and basic supplies. Each site comes equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The park also offers canoe rentals on a first-come basis. Beyond camping, the park preserves the history of Fort Lincoln and the Point Lookout Confederate Cemetery, where thousands of prisoners were held during the Civil War. A historic lighthouse, hiking trails, swimming beach, and boat launch round out the recreational opportunities. Pets are permitted on leash in Tulip, Conoy, and Hoffman's Loops but are not allowed in Malone Loop.
