About

Tippy Dam Rustic Cabin is located within the Tippy Dam Recreation Area on the Manistee River in Huron-Manistee National Forest. The cabin overlooks Tippy Dam backwaters and provides rustic accommodations for up to six guests. Inside, you'll find bunk beds, solar-powered lighting (weather dependent), a propane heating stove, and basic furniture. There is no running water or electricity; guests must bring their own cookware, linens, and towels. A hand pump for water and vault toilets are located nearby. The location is renowned for world-class fishing, particularly during fall salmon runs when anglers pursue Chinook salmon. Steelhead and sturgeon fishing are popular in spring. The recreation area offers two boat launches, an accessible fishing pier, paddling opportunities, and hiking trails. Winter activities include cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The cabin and campground remain open year-round, making this an excellent base for experiencing Northern Michigan's seasonal beauty and outdoor recreation opportunities.
