Bahia Honda State Park Campground

Open — Open year-round, 365 days a year from 8 a.m. until sundown. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance and are highly recommended, especially during winter months, weekends and holidays. The park may temporarily close day-use areas when maximum capacity is reached.

Bahia Honda State Park Campground sits on a tropical island in the heart of the Florida Keys, offering some of the most spectacular coastal camping in South Florida. The campground features 80 sites divided into three distinct areas. Bayside Campground (sites 1-48) accommodates RVs of all sizes with gravel sites, electricity, water, picnic tables and grills, plus a bathhouse with hot showers and dump station; waterfront sites 12-25 provide direct gulf views. Buttonwood Campground (sites 49-72) offers similar amenities but is limited to rigs under 23 feet due to sharp turns in the loop. Sandspur Campground (sites 73-80) provides eight primitive sites with water, picnic tables and grills, but campers must travel to Buttonwood for hot showers. The park surrounds campers with natural beauty, from gin-clear waters and white-sand beaches to balmy sea breezes and magnificent sunsets. Three beaches offer swimming and snorkeling opportunities, with Bahia Honda known for some of the best nearshore snorkeling in the Keys. The shallow waters reveal soft corals, tropical fish, queen conchs and spiny lobster just hundreds of feet from shore. Beyond the water, visitors can explore the Old Bahia Honda Bridge trail for spectacular views, spot wading birds and shorebirds along the sand flats, or rent kayaks and snorkeling gear from the on-site concession. The park also features boat ramps with access to both the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico, plus a marina with overnight boat slips.

Located at 36850 Overseas Highway, Big Pine Key, FL 33043 in the Florida Keys. Vehicles accessing Bayside Campground must fit under the New Bahia Honda Bridge with a height restriction of 6 feet 8 inches.
