About
Monument Lake Campground sits at the heart of Big Cypress National Preserve, one of the largest undeveloped freshwater swamps in the country. The campground offers 26 RV sites arranged around a small lake, each providing open views of the water, though campers should expect full sun with minimal shade. Ten tent-only sites are positioned separately, closer to the host site and restroom facilities. The preserve offers diverse recreational opportunities including hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, photography, and off-road vehicle trails. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the preserve's cypress swamps, hardwood hammocks, and sawgrass prairies. Wildlife viewing is exceptional, with opportunities to see alligators, wading birds, and other Everglades species. Facilities include flush toilets, drinking water, and trash collection during the operating season. No hookups are available at any site. Fire rings are provided at tent sites only; RV sites do not have fire rings or grills. Reservations are made through Recreation.gov, and advance booking is strongly recommended due to limited cell coverage in the area.
