About

Burns Lake Campground sits along a tranquil lake within Big Cypress National Preserve, surrounded by towering pine trees and abundant wildlife. Every campsite offers lake views, making it an ideal basecamp for those seeking a remote Florida experience. The campground serves as a gateway for permitted off-road vehicle access into the backcountry, though ORV use is prohibited within the campground boundaries. The campground provides primitive camping with 14 designated sites: 8 accommodating RVs (nonelectric) and 6 tent-only sites. Vault toilets are available year-round, but campers must bring their own drinking water as none is provided on-site. Trash and recycling collection is available. Small campfires are permitted at designated camping sites and must be attended at all times; only dead wood lying on the ground may be collected for fuel. Quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, with generators required to shut down by 10:00 PM. The campground is located near mile marker 67 on US Highway 41, making it accessible from both Naples and Miami. Nearby attractions include airboat and swamp buggy tours, museums, art galleries, and boardwalks. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov, with unreserved sites available first-come, first-served when the campground is open.
