About

Burns Lake Campground is located in Big Cypress National Preserve and offers a primitive camping experience surrounded by towering pine trees wrapping around a scenic lake. The campground features 15 designated RV/tent sites, all with lake views, making it an ideal base camp for hunters, off-road vehicle enthusiasts, and anglers. The campground provides vault toilets year-round but has no water available on-site, so campers must bring their own supply. Sites are equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. The area offers excellent backcountry access for permitted ORV use and fishing opportunities in the lake and surrounding waters with appropriate licensing. The remote location provides outstanding wildlife viewing opportunities while remaining accessible from US Highway 41. Burns Lake is situated close enough to modern conveniences yet far enough from major highways to provide a true backcountry feel. The campground also includes a day-use picnic area and backcountry access parking. Reservations can be made through Recreation.gov, with unreserved sites available first-come, first-served. The preserve offers proximity to local attractions including airboat and swamp buggy tours, museums, art galleries, and boardwalks.
