About

Orb Trail Campground at Long Key State Park provides a unique primitive camping experience in the Florida Keys. Named after the native Golden Orb spider found along the trail, this tent-only campground features hike-in sites positioned along the Atlantic Ocean. Each campsite comes equipped with a picnic table, grill for cooking, and a hammock stand for relaxing in the subtropical breeze. The campground offers basic amenities including restrooms with cold outdoor showers. There are no electric or water hookups, making this a true primitive camping experience. Campers should bring their own drinking water. The park was heavily damaged by Hurricane Irma in 2017 and Hurricane Ian in 2022, and the campground now operates with a limited number of walk-up primitive tent sites. Beyond camping, Long Key State Park is a designated site on the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. The 1.1-mile Golden Orb Trail winds through tropical hammock and mangrove communities. Kayaking, swimming in designated areas, and wildlife observation are popular activities. Kayak rentals are available at the Ranger Station.
